As the season for ice cream slowly dwindles down to the end, it is important that you that you close your machines and shop down properly so that everything run properly the next time that you decide to open your business. This means winterization needs to take place in order for everything to run smoothly in the spring.

Why winterize your equipment?

It’s very important if you are an ice cream shop to keep your machines in tip top shape. Constant maintenance and check ups are a good way to ensure that your machines will last longer and save you money in the long run. Winterization of the machine is a perfect example of this.

In the upcoming months, when temperatures get close to freezing, it is very possible that the water inside your equipment freezes causing the internal plumbing lines of the machines to crack.  This allows water to enter your system which will damage/destroy major components (compressors, condensers, etc) of your machines.   Winterization prevents this by removing all water from the system making your machine ready for next season.

Some of the worst headaches for ice cream owners are broken or damaged machines. If you do not winterize your machine it is much more likely that these damages will occur.
